Hello Faces collects what it needs to run the game and nothing more. We don't show ads, we don't use tracking or analytics tools, and we never sell your information.

Who we are

Hello Faces is made by Corpus Callosum LLC, a Washington limited liability company ("we", "us"). Contact us any time at .

What we collect

  • Your player account. When you first open the app we create a guest account with a random ID. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and an account ID from that service. Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real email. We never see your password.
  • Your player name. A random name or one you choose, plus a four-digit tag. It is shown to other players.
  • Your catches. The photo you take or choose, and the name, object, mood and caption you give it. The app shrinks the photo on your phone and saves it as a new image before uploading.
  • Location, only if you allow it. When you catch a face, the app can read your location once to look up your city and country, then discards the coordinates. For each catch you choose what to save: city, country, or "Somewhere on Earth." We never store your exact location. The World map shows countries only.
  • Game activity. Your votes in Judge, the faces you collect, your XP, levels, streaks, Daily Hunt entries, and any reports you send about a face.
  • Settings on your phone. Music and sound choices, and Streak saver reminders, are stored and scheduled on your phone. We don't currently send push notifications from our servers.

We don't collect your contacts, your precise location, advertising IDs, or browsing activity.

How we use it

  • To run the game: show faces in Judge, keep your album, count votes and award XP.
  • To keep the community safe: review catches before others see them, handle reports, and stop cheating or abuse.
  • To restore your progress when you sign in on a new phone.
  • To answer you when you contact us.

What other players can see

Once a catch is approved, other players can see its photo, name, object, mood, caption, location label (city, country or "Somewhere on Earth"), its scores and collectors, and your player name and tag. Your name and tag can also appear in the Hall of Fame and Top catchers. Your email address is never shown to other players.

Moderation

New catches wait in a review queue and appear to other players only after they are approved. Players can report a face, and we may hide or remove content that breaks the house rules. We may use automated tools to help check photos and text for safety.

Who we share it with

We use a few companies to run the game. They handle data only to provide their service to us:

  • Supabase: database, photo storage and sign-in.
  • Apple and Google: Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, and app distribution.
  • Expo: building and delivering the app.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of players or the public. If the game or company is ever sold, your information would move to the new owner under this policy.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

We keep your information while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app: open the Me tab and tap Delete my account. That permanently removes your account, catches and their photos, votes, album, XP and reports. Players who had collected one of your faces keep a blank placeholder card showing only its mood. Copies in our service providers' backups may remain for a limited time until those backups expire.

You can also ask us to delete your account by email.

Children

Hello Faces is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

  • Turn location off at any time in your phone's settings, or choose "Somewhere on Earth" for any catch.
  • Change your player name on the Me tab.
  • Ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.

Security

Information travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections, and access to the database is limited by account. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. For important changes, we will also let you know in the app.
